What about my tithe?

Will a man rob God? This question dates far back before Christianity started and has since been an object of debate, whether or not we should pay our tithe.

Let's start from the beginning, in the time of Cain and Abel. Genesis  4:3  And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

Here we see that Cain brought an offering unto God. I can also say that this was a tithe because it was a measure of what he earn as a labourer tilling the ground.

From the beginning God demands to receive from men a portion to show their love and relationship to Him. Now, what will a relationship be without giving and receiving from both end. What cements a relationship is when the both parties are faithful in giving and receiving.

Deities on the other hand give and expect to receive from men a sacrifice of blood or food kind. I mean the dark gods and goddesses.

Where was this copied from? God Almighty of course. How about our government they demand a token a task of what we earn. and of course we pay in full. Where was that copied from? God Almighty!

How then is God's ability to receive His own token out of the plentious which he has given to men questioned and ignored?

Leviticus  27:30  And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: it is holy unto the LORD.

Leviticus  27:32  And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.

Next let's look at the father of all, Abraham. Genesis  14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.  14:19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:  14:20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Look at the last part ...And he gave him tithes of all.

Now to the church of Christ. Are we to pay tithe? Yes! offcourse.

What did Jesus said concerning this matter?

Matthew  23:23  Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

The last part again, here we go ...and not to leave the other undone.

Meaning after all the good work is done, your judgement, your mercy, your faith is done then pay your tithe.

Christ Himself never condemned the payment of tithe, He only corrected the motive. The scribes and Pharisees see this payment of tithe as the overall obligation and after that the go on with their wickedness and unrighteousness.

But as a Christian, we have the heart of Christ, our works are of Christ which means for our rightness to be completed, we need to pay our tithe and offerings.

Who takes my tithe? Does it matter!

Let's paint a picture, for those who worship any form of a deity, they always render an offering.

...Who eats it?

For those who visit a deity, they go with an offering. Maybe to enquire about their destiny they go with an offering.

Who eats it?

Infact, at this point they don't mind who eats it. The main point, is for the promise made to them be fulfilled and not to worry about who does what.

Biblically, Hebrews  7:5  And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

Levi, is in our time as Christians referred to as Pastors or in general Men of God. They build on what you give to them, and in God's government tithes is his taxes, He receives from us that the church be not broke.

Is it a force? No. but it's a must!

If tithes and offerings are not placed by God as a law and commanded to be paid. Offcourse 99% of the time we will not pay it. So when it is a law, it helps to make this practice a continoun (that is continuous).

So, constantly when we labor at our place of work, either an office, a farm, a trade any good work of our hands that fetch us a living, we are obliged to pay our tithe because of the law.

Malachi  3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

...and. Does it come with come with any benefits? Yes! it does.

Malachi 3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

There is therefore now, no insurance greater than this my friends.
